ALGAE OR SLIPPERY POOL LINER

Possible causes

Suggested solutions

Preventive maintenance

Green, brown or yellow algae: insufficient sanitizer (chlorine)

Adjust the pH level between 7.2 and 7.8. Add 350g of shock treatment 70% per 10,000 L of water. Pour in 150ml of destructive algaecide 40% per 10,000 L of water. Wait 3 hours then brush the walls and bottom of the pool. Wait 12 hours then vacuum. Wash out by doing a backwash.

Never run out of sanitizer. Each week, as a preventive measure, pour 35ml of destructive algaecide 40% per 10,000 L of water.

Black algae: insufficient sanitizer (chlorine)

Same solution as for green, brown or yellow algae. Brush the walls more vigorously however, as black algae forms layers. The more you wait, the harder it will be to remove.

Never run out of sanitizer. Each week, as a preventive measure, pour 35ml of destructive algaecide 40% per 10,000 L of water.

Green algae: presence of phosphates

Remove the phosphates using Phos Zero. Follow the recommended dosage on the label according to the levels of phosphates tested.

Have your phosphate levels analyzed once a month to make sure your water is phosphate-free.

CLOUDY WATER

Possible causes

Suggested solutions

Preventive maintenance

High level of suspended particles

Add 260ml of Super Clear per 10,000 L of water or one Clari Tab pouch in the skimmer per 75,000L of water.

Each week, add 30ml of Super Clear per 10,000 L of water or one Clari Tab pouch in the skimmer per 75,000L of water.

Insufficient sanitizer (chlorine)

Add 350g of shock treatment 70% per 10,000 L of water.

Maintain sanitizer levels between 1 and 3 ppm at all times.

High pH level

Lower the pH level anywhere between 7.2 and 7.8 using PH-.

Maintain the pH level between 7.2 et 7.8.

Filtration problems

Ensure that the skimmer and pump baskets are free from debris and that the filter is functioning properly. At the beginning and end of the season, clean the sand of your filter using sand filter cleaner.

Make sure to always empty the baskets and that the filter is functioning properly. Backwash the filter if needed.

PRESENCE OF STAINS

Possible causes

Suggested solutions

Preventive maintenance

Stains on the pool liner: unbalanced water, using water from a well.

Pour stain remover on the surface of the water; the product will settle over the stain and automatically remove it. No need to scrub.

Maintain proper pool water parameters (pH level 7.2 – 7.8, Alkalinity 80 - 120 ppm, Hardness 200 - 300 ppm). If the pool is filled with water from a well, use the Metal Control product once a week.   The product will prevent stains.

IRRITATED EYES AND SKIN

Possible causes

Suggested solutions

Preventive maintenance

Improper pH balance

Adjust the pH level anywhere between 7.2 and 7.8. The pH of the human eye is 7.5.

Maintain the pH level between 7.2 et 7.8.

Presence of chloramines (combined chlorine)

Administer a non chlorinated shock treatment using Oxy once a week (1 pouch for 24- feet or smaller pools, 2 pouches for pools over 24 feet in length).

Add Oxy once a week to prevent chlorine odour and eye irritation (1 pouch for 24- feet or smaller pools, 2 pouches for pools over 24 feet in length). Oxy increases the effectiveness of sanitizers and helps to clarify water.

POOL LINER CORROSION, CREASING OR DISCOLOURATION

Possible causes

Suggested solutions

Preventive maintenance

Low pH

Adjust the pH level anywhere between 7.2 and 7.8. Raise the pH level using pH+.

Maintain the pH level between 7.2 et 7.8.

Low total alkalinity

Adjust total alkalinity anywhere between 80 and 120 ppm. Raise the alkalinity using Alkalinity Control.

Maintain total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm.

Low calcium hardness

Adjust calcium hardness between 200 and 300 ppm. Raise the calcium hardness using Calcium Hardness.

Maintain calcium hardness between 200 and 300 ppm.

Sanitizer (chlorine) level higher than 3 ppm

Adjust the sanitizer level anywhere between 1 and 3 ppm.

Maintain the sanitizer level between 1 and 3 ppm.
